The first batch of packages went out on Tuesday. Expect to start seeing tracking numbers come to your email!
Wait... that didn't come out right... What we mean is that we won't be sending crappy products. Yeah, that's better.
Obviously, our goal (umpteenth push-back goal) of February for fulfillment is not going to happen. Why? Well, we ordered a proof of the books and they were garbage. So we had to go to another printer/distributor and start all over. It took two weeks for them to finally accept that we do indeed have the rights to the stories... and now, today, this day that is now, WE FINALLY ORDERED ALL OF THE BOOKS!
Hardbacks are the last to arrive. They hit Idaho on February 22nd, give or take a few days. As soon as they arrive, shipping to you will begin. So, you will have your books before spring break.
For you backers, did you get the email from Backerkit with the digital version? Please let us know if you didn't. For you Kindle purists out there, look for the mobi version in a week.
It is no secret that I (Mike) botched this campaign when it came to fulfillment. You all deserved better.
We do have plans to put "Grifty Shades of Fey - Darker" on Kickstarter. However, we will have all of our ducks in a row this time. We do have some stories already accepted, and the editing phase will be streamlined. The fulfillment period will have some hard deadlines. AND I won't be moving houses and expecting another child.
So, please stay tuned for announcements about book two. It will happen, but might be a few months. Please send any feedback about that our way.
Many of you are wondering where the book is. We had hopes of sending things out before the holidays, but to create the best product possible we needed to make sure the formatting and such was spot on. At the end of November when we felt comfortable with the product we went to put the order in at Ingram, where they promptly informed us that any orders, due to the time of the year, would be delayed. 19 days was the shortest production time (without paying an exorbitant rush fee) and that would put the books at our office past the Christmas shopping deadline.
Last year, we rush ordered a different book we published during December. Those books were riddled with printing errors, pages cut in half, and other undesirable qualities. We won't risk that again.
Bottom line, we failed to bring you Christmas Griftiness.
So, we are sorry. Specifically, I, Mike am sorry. My planning and execution of this Kickstarter did not go as I wanted. The fault is mine. In all honesty, I was not prepared for the scope of fulfilling this project. No excuses. Sorry.
So, we have released the digital book to everyone of you that was a backer. You should have alerts about the download in your inbox now. Make sure Backerkit emails are NOT in your spam.
But what about those that paid extra for digital? How is that fair to them? Well, we are going to include some extra goodies in your order if you were one of the tech-savvy backers, namely, button badges (and if you are one of those backers and already ordered badges, then we will throw in more badges).
End of January will see the fulfillment of all rewards. Period.
Not all production was a miserable failure. We did get in the Decoy Journals... and they are awesome.
