Those Pixies are Quaking in Their Boots!
Oh, Ye Defenders of the Human Race! We are almost halfway funded! The deceptive glamour of popular Fey culture is melting away with each new penny pledged to the campaign.
Almost there... but you know what they say: 'almost' only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. AND since hand grenades aren't very effective against the ephemeral fairy folk, we shouldn't put all of our faith in horseshoes.
Horseshoes and Fairies
Some of you have brought up the point that we should share some trivia about fairies. Good point, let's not wait until Grifty Shades is published to give out some precautionary education.
In modern fantasy, cold iron may refer to a special type of metal, such as meteoric iron or unworked metal. Weapons and implements made from cold iron are often granted special efficacy against creatures such as fairies and spirits.
The placing of horseshoes above doorways is to ward off Faeries; the theory being that supernatural beings are repelled by iron and as horseshoes were an easily available source of iron, they could be nailed above a door to prevent any unwanted, otherworldly guests.
Facebook Groupies
So we have over 73 followers here on Kickstarter (ahem, you who haven't backed yet, stop sitting on the fence and commit). However, Kickstarter doesn't really provide a way for us all to interact with each other, including the authors.

WEDNESDAY WAS GOOD!
A true hump day! We bumped up past the $2000 mark. It was a huge boost for us and a kick in the glitter balls for the fairies!
Soon, we will see the true faces of those fairies--just like this icky creature below.
Story Previews
Here's an incentive: hit $4000 and we will leak a some narrative tidbits. AND Mike will accept two new authors from the submissions. AND we will release a new bit of fairy art that y'all can print off!
YOU YOU YOU
We still need help with getting the word out. It turns out that non-paid posts on social media are really great for getting backers. So please, grab this special tailored link and share on all of your groups and twitters and reddits and instagrams and facebooks and blogs and and and...
Talkin' Tuesday and Story Submissions

Today Was a Good Tuesday
The campaign made some great progress today. YES! Take that, you stinkin' Fey!
Now we just have to keep that momentum going.
Story Submissions
Many of you have shown interest in submitting a story to the anthology. Good. Here are our guidelines and all of that:
Grifty Shades of Fey Anthology Guidelines
Like the title says, this is a collection of stories about fairies, pixies, gnomes, elves, and all of the hidden folk--specifically how they con and trick and manipulate humans. There is no restriction of cultural origin of the Fey you use in your story. The lil' buggers are everywhere.
Genre
The stories can be horror, satire, humor, allegory, etc, but must have that fantastical element that comes inherently with the Fey.
Length
Flash fiction up to around 4500 words.
Content
In true Fiction Vortex fashion, the content is meant for a wide audience. Content must be PG-13 or lower. Limit profanity, and definitely no F-bombs.
Additionally, this is not a platform for preaching social or political agendas. Leave your political or social trends behind. We aren't your soapbox.
All stories are subject to the review of Fiction Vortex. We reserve the right to reject any story for any reason.
Compensation and Rights
Payment is $.05 USD per word. No royalties. Payment will be received upon finalized proof of the completed anthology. Fiction Vortex has first digital, print, and audio rights. The work is free to be published elsewhere after a year (12 months), but the author must attribute Fiction Vortex and/or the anthology as the first place of publishing. There will be a contract with full details.
All work must be original. We are not accepting republished works.
Deadline
The book is to be published in September. We will accept stories until June 15, but would prefer them before that if possible. Notifications of acceptance and rejection will be sent as the stories are read.
Most Important: None of this matters if the campaign doesn't fund. Fiction Vortex will not retain any rights or any works if the campaign fails.
20% and The Crickets Are All We Hear, Unless You Count Our Podcast Interview

We hit 20% and that is because of you!
But a lull has hit and all we hear are crickets, which usually are sort of peaceful, but we are sure their are fairies riding those crickets and are gearing up for war. Help us!
Last night, Mike was able to go on a podcast, Getting Geeky with Gamer Leaf, along with our featured author, David Farland. Listen for some hints about perks.
